Trading One Type of Sick for Another & My Recent D.C. Appointment: Update April 11-22, 2022

"The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings."

- Ralph H. Blum

Often it seems I am constantly trading one sickness for another, one pain for another, or additionally. The four-week protocols are made up of two weeks antibiotic regiment and two weeks detoxing. The antibiotic weeks are rough; makes me really sick. The other two weeks after a week seems to exchange the “sick” for pain, migraines, and even more fatigue. It sounds like things are not improving but are.

Wednesday, I had my specialist appointment in D.C. I had a long talk about symptoms and side effects, asked a lot of questions, and got a lot of answers. There have been several symptoms and pains I have been having over time that the doctor was able to put a name to and explain what is happening. One issue he mentioned was that I have some of the worst myofascial pain he has ever worked with. I told him I was used to pain. He replied, “That may be part of the reason it's so bad.” Nonetheless, some of these are just the effects of prolonged infection.

Several things are an indication that my immune system is getting stronger. As I have mentioned before because it has woken up and now getting stronger, it is also very angry and doing a great deal of attacking the sickness in my body. The rise of my system, though a great and amazing thing, is causing a great deal of pain and reawakening of some of my worse symptoms from way before this treatment began.

The doctor has me doing at least two more IV therapies, which means two additional months of IV antibiotics. We are all hopeful to move ahead from there to the next phase of treatment, aggressive oral antibiotics. More than likely, the doctor will keep my port in for continued IV detoxes and hydrations for at least a portion during this time. But for now, treatment begins Monday, April 25th.

The treatment will look much like the last five, however, there will be some added medications this time around. The treatment itself is not getting easier, but I am encouraged by how my body is responding and what that means for the future moving forward.

Please keep me in your prayers as I begin this protocol.

Pray for:

-Strength, endurance, and overcoming

-Better blood work with lowered markers in several tests

-Relief, any less pain and suffering, and a great deal of rest throughout the process

-A good headspace, resolve, and high spirits

-Financial provision, clarity, and wisdom for & as treatment continues

Thank you again so much for those who read this and encourage me accordingly. It means a great deal to me being supported and loved in several ways. I know that, even with all the suffering, I am blessed and highly favored. I want you to know that you are too. God meets each and everyone of us exactly where we are, in the exact way we each need. I am continually learning how that looks different for each of us. I am a testament to His love and sovereignty. I pray today that you will also know how He loves and cares for you too.

A few pockets of joy that I can’t go without mentioning include getting to visit a childhood friend for an hour one day during the off week as well as a brief visit from the infamous and wonderful Nikki. Most excitedly, I got to celebrate Christ’s resurrection with my extended family that haven’t been together for Easter in over five years. A few of the next generation of cousins got to have an Easter egg hunt that reminded me of so many times the older cousins had hunted together in the past. This brought a sadness to my heart knowing of all those who have passed but a great joy of the new memories and comings together for the future. I have also enjoyed seeing the birds. They are bright and active in the freshly bloomed trees. I have had the opportunity of learning a great deal about bees and the many swarms my dad has caught in just the last few weeks. (Don’t kill the bees if you see a swarm feel free to reach out to me or a beekeeper locally.)

Also, I have received my T-shirt orders from the “Hope.” T-shirt contest. I am loving

them and can't wait to show them off. Remember the shirts are available in multiple designs, colors, styles, and for all ages and sizes. Click this link to shop at my online store. The percentage I make goes directly toward cost of continuing treatment.
