“Resilience is very different than being numb. Resilience means you experience, you feel, you fail, you hurt. You fall. But, you keep going.”
― Yasmin Mogahed
What a week last week was. I had my first off week. I just finished my first “off” week, where I do not take any IV antibiotics. I have heard that off days and weeks can be hard, which rang true for me. I had a massive migraine and eye pain Monday only getting out of bed to use the bathroom. I felt better Tuesday but still but have woke up every morning with a migraine involving sound, smell, light, air, and movement sensitivities. As well as eye pain and so forth. I did get to chat with a friend I have missed a lot lately and smell my flowers blooming, Carolina Phlox is my favorite. I got some great “Nikki Grams” (snail mail Nikki has been sending) that were pretty funny and a couple other thoughtful cards. Thanks for any snail mail sent this way! On Monday, I have another eye appointment that I am hoping the doctor can figure out what is going on and how we might fix it. Please be praying God will show exactly what is causing this pain and how the doctor can fix it.
My skin continues to be very itchy, blistering, and burning. The nurse gave us two more things to try to decrease my skin’s reaction to the bandage covering my port. If these things do not alleviate the issues, we may have to consider an alternative involving larger steps. Please be praying for my skin. It is a bit concerning, but mainly it is uncomfortable and painful.
In addition to my skin near my central line, I have a condition called Chronic Erythema Nodosum. This is a rare condition where the skin becomes inflamed due to underlying infection, disease, or even medications. The inflation presents itself through red nodules or lesions, that look like a goose eggs, found mainly around the shin and ankles, but can form all over the body. I mentioned last week that this condition has flared up with a spot on my shin that I have had for two months at least. Now I have another nodule popping up on my left ankle. Last year this condition got so bad that I had to have two biopsies and the swelling caused a bone in my right foot to pop out of place. Please continue to pray for my skin within this condition, specifically the tenderness and pain it creates.
Today I started the first week of cycle two of this trying protocol. This protocol last seven weeks with a week off in between. After, having that week off, it seemed my body was shocked to start back with the antibiotics causing heavier herxing and extreme nausea today.
Furthermore, today I want to honor and remember my precious grandmother, Mammaw. Its bee five years since she passed. Hard to believe, but her roots grow deep within all who have known her, especially my family. I am so blessed to be her granddaughter and miss her very much.
This is a very busy week for me with the new cycle and two appointments. I am looking forward to my sister coming home this week. I will be one ecstatic Auntie!
Thank you for following my journey thus far. Thanks for checking in or sending mail. Thank you, big time, for all your prayers especially in this coming week.
*Prayer request:
-My eyes for answers and relief
-My skin around my central line and the chronic condition
-Cycle two: intense nausea, pain, herxing, exhaustion, & resilience
